Marvel: Crisis Protocol – Shang-Chi & Silver Sable Up Close
The new Character Pack for Shang-Chi and Silver Sable are in the house. Let’s take a closer look at this pair of heroes!
Atomic Mass Games sent us a preview copy of the upcoming Shang-Chi and Silver Sable Character Pack. Considering we’ve only gotten a close look at Silver Sable’s Rules so far I’m excited to check this one out! So let’s dive in and check out the minis.
I do like the new box style. It’s more colorful than the first versions. But I know the box is the least of your concerns. It’s what’s inside that counts, right?!
Packing-wise it’s exactly what you’d expect. It’s a baggy with the single sprue for both miniatures as well as all the cards. You’ve got their respective hero cards and then the 6 Team Tactics cards, too.
There’s also some tokens included with this one related to the heroes. And, of course, you’ll get four sets of cards/team tactics cards for each supported language set. Now then, let’s check out those miniatures!
First off, I do like the poses of both of these miniatures. You’ve got Shang-Chi with a more defensive stance, almost saying, “come get some.” While you have a much more dynamic Silver Sable pushing forward with a very large rifle while under fire. There were four more “bullet explosions” you can place on the base around her. However, I opted to leave them off because of the base I ended up choosing. I wanted something a little different than the box this time around.
Shang-Chi
If you can’t tell who Shang-Chi is modeled after you need to catch up on your Kung-Fu movies. Clearly, this is an iconic nod to the one and only Bruce Lee. I won’t get into all the history of the comics for Shang-Chi. But this sculpt, pose, and the box-art paint job is pulled right from the comic panels. If you were hoping for more of the MCU look, well, you can paint him how you want. Personally, I really like this version of him.
Silver Sable
Silver Sable is all about that tacti-cool gear. You’d be forgiven if you mistook her for an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. or even Black Widow (with longer hair). She’s got a very large rifle and is ready to lay down some cover fire. I would like to note the barrel was a little bent when I got it and it’s a thin piece of plastic. Luckily, it didn’t snap. I might try to reinforce this later with some sprue shavings and plastic glue but I think once it gets some paint on it, the barrel should be fine.
Defenders Assemble?
Now, if you’re like me you might be looking at those team tactics cards and wondering what affiliation these two characters are going to be in. I can’t confirm this but uh…there’s three Defenders Cards and three Unaffiliated cards. You can do the math. Now, having said that, these two characters might also fit into other affiliations. But for now I’m sticking with the assumption that they are going to be Defenders.
Shang-Chi and Silver Sable are currently up for pre-order and currently have a release date of July 12, 2024.
Marvel: Crisis Protocol – Shang Chi & Silver Sable $39.99
Two new characters join Marvel: Crisis Protocol. Trained by his father in the martial arts from a young age, the assassin Shang-Chi became a living weapon. After learning the truth about his father’s crimes, Shang-Chi cast him aside and began working with fellow heroes to do what is right. Silvija Sablinova convinced her father to train her to hunt war criminals. After his death, she took the name Silver Sable and her skills have taken her all over the world—fulfilling contracts to support her team and homeland. These two miniatures are accompanied by 2 character stat cards and six team tactics cards.
Okay. Now I need to make up a “Kung-Fu Fighting” MCP list with Shang-Chi and Iron Fist leading the way. Oh and Ninjas…
