Age of Sigmar: New Knight-Azyros and Brood Terror Revealed
Warhammer: Age of Sigmar is showing off two more miniatures. One is a new Skaven and the other is a Stormcast Eternal.
The Skaventide war is heating up and new units are taking to the field. Today, Games Workshop is showing off the latest for the Skaven and the Stormcast Eternals. Say hello to the two newest recruits to this war:
“The Hour of Ruin is here, and the Skaventide is coming to drown out all hope in the Mortal Realms. In the wake of the catastrophic Vermindoom, the children of the Great Horned Rat have burst forth in great swarms, renewed malice in their twitchy little hearts. The Stormcast Eternals are on the front lines preparing for this incoming disaster, with the soul-stricken members of the Ruination Chamber lending what may be their last life to the gruelling war effort.”
Knight-Azyros & Tornus the Redeemed
First up we have a look at the new Knight-Azyros. A winged warrior with a lantern and sword he brings the radiant light of Azyr to the battlefield. But this kit has another option. Meet Tornus the Redeemed. He’s a legendary Knight-Azyros character who was once servant of Nurgle. But after an encounter with the Celestant-Prime the corruption of Nurgle was purged from him and Tornus was reborn.
This alternate version comes with a spear and is still holding the light of Azyr in a lantern. Personally, I’m glad we got a look at the other side of this miniature because at first I didn’t know if he had any legs — it looked like he was just floating. Alas, he’s perched on those ruins and is either about to take off or come gently down for a landing.
Skaven Brood Terror
On the other end of the spectrum we have the ghastly new Skaven Brood Terror. I’ll be honest, I’m not quite sure what I’m looking at here. You’ve got quite a few Skaven stitched together to form a mutant Rat Ogor with other bits, too.
“Crimes against nature created in the foetid laboratories of the Clans Moulder, these abhorrent colossi are part of a never-ending quest to create ever more cunning abominations. To create a Brood Terror requires sacrifice – typically unwilling, as is the Skaven way – on the part of a Master Moulder, and the gibbering head that still protrudes from the beast’s neck is a living vestige of that unlucky donor.”
Yeah….this thing is gross and I think that’s the entire point! If you’re a fan of Skaven and body horror, well, this one’s for you! It’s not exactly my cup of tea but I know there’s folks out there who are going to love it. Between the steam-punk vibes, the rat-men composite body, and that chaos warpstone infusion I know there are some hobbyists out there who really want to get their hands on this one.
I’m curious to see what each of these will do in the game. The Knight-Azyros/Tornus the Redeemed could be a nice character to add to any Stormcast lists. And the Brood Terror…well, I have no real idea what that thing will do! But I know the dangers of a Warpfire thrower when I see one.
