The Blood Angels are getting a new codex and boxed set. It’s time to unleash the Death Company with Lemartes and Astorath leading the way.

We now we have confirmation who’s next after the Imperial Agents. It’s the Sons of Sanguinius with a new Blood Angels Codex. But they aren’t just getting a new book. There’s a new army set coming and it’s got two important characters for the Death Company inside. Chaplain Lemartes and Astorath, High Chaplain of the Blood Angels are here to guide the Death Company to battle!

“Few Space Marine Chapters are held in such high regard as the Blood Angels. The Sons of Sanguinius have such an unorthodox Chapter cult and order of battle – involving distinctive formations, unusual tactics, and mighty heroes – that they require their own Codex to accompany their unique miniatures.”

Blood Angels Army Set

The new boxed set features Lemartes, Astorath, 20 Death Company Intercessors and a Brutalis Dreadnought. 10 of the Intercessors will have the option for Jump Packs as well. Additionally, this box also comes with four sets of the brand new Blood Angels upgrades and transfers.

Lemartes

Chaplain Lemartes, the Guardian of the Lost has a new model coming. He’s looking more aggressive and has a new mask as well. Which…I’m not quite sure about. I know it’s supposed to look like a screaming skull but it looks like something else is going on there. That said, the rest of the model is cool — he’s got a “Come at me, bro!” look and I like the scenic base. Also, this might just be the angle of the pictures, but I can’t tell if he’s been Primaris’d sized or not. I’m looking forward to seeing him in person.

Astorath

Astorath also got a new model in the boxed set. That said, he’s retained a his old pose. He’s wielding the Executioner’s Axe once again and it looks like he’s about to bring it down on someone. I do like the armor design of Astorath as it’s clearly inspired by the look from the movie Bram Stoker’s Dracula from the 90’s.

When I see models like this in the Blood Angels I’m often reminded how much beef they have with Ka’bandha. If Khorne doesn’t care where the skulls come from he might sub-contract out to Astorath. I’m just sayin!

And here’s a quick look at the Accessory Upgrades. This is a new pack with more Blood Angel goodies to add to your miniatures. These bits are a great way to sprinkle in some Blood Angels flair to all sorts of miniatures in your collection.

Blood Angels Codex

In terms of rules supplements this box also contains the special edition cover version of the codex along with 18 datacards for units in the book. The codex contains new Detachment rules for running the Blood Angels along with the options in Codex: Space Marines.

At a later date the standard version of the codex will also be available. We don’t have a ton of info on this one just yet but you can bet GW is going to be ramping up coverage moving forward.

I’m glad to see the Blood Angels getting a new Codex. I’m also happy to see this box is really focusing on the Death Company as well. Let’s just hope they get some good rules to make them worth throwing wildly across the table at their targets! It’s close combat or bust for these Death Company Intercessors!

What do you think of the new Blood Angels Army Set coming soon?
