Spaceships, Speeder Bikes, and Salacious B. Crumb – The ‘Star Wars Outlaws’ Launch Trailer Has That Scoundrel Sheen
The new Star Wars Outlaws launch trailer shows off a world you can’t wait to step into. Bandits. Blasters. And a hive of scum and villainy.
There isn’t a single lightsaber in the new launch trailer for Star Wars Outlaws, which is releasing August 30th. And that is extremely exciting for many reasons. Not that I don’t love lightsabers and Jedi or anyone else who picks up a khyber-crystal powered laser sword. But Star Wars has always had this other world just waiting there.
The world of outlaws and gangsters. Of Hutts and Bounty Hunters. In wretched hives of scum and villainy throughout the Outer Rim, a world of Scoundrels has always been there. But Star Wars games don’t often put the camera on the rogues in cool jackets striking even cooler poses when they quickdraw their blasters to shoot someone before they can get shot.
In the Star Wars Outlaws Launch Trailer – Kay Vess Shoots First
If there was one moment in the Star Wars Outlaws Launch Trailer that won me over more than anything else, it’s right around 18 seconds in. The voice over says “this is your one shot,” right as the outlaw Kay Vess squares up for a showdown with a blaster rifle-wielding thug. And then she shoots first. Just like Han did.
But then the trailer keeps going. It shows off the worlds of Outlaws, and they’re full of gangsters. Criminals. All the scum and villainy you could hope to bask in. Including Jabba the Hutt and his Kowakian Monkey Lizard, Salacious B. Crumb, loving rendered in Unreal Engine 5.
