Marvel: Crisis Protocol – Angel & Archangel Up Close
Angel is one of the original X-Men and is coming to Marvel: Crisis Protocol. Let’s take an up close look at both versions!
Warren Worthington III, aka Angel/Archangel is one of the founding members of the group put together by Charles Xavier. After a terrible incident left him broken and wingless, he was manipulated by Apocalypse and was reborn as Archangel. Now, I’ve already unboxed this set and been pretty impressed so far. Now I’ve got both miniatures assembled. It’s time to buzz the tower and take a closer look!
Angel & Archangel
First up, here’s a shot of both miniatures in their angelic glory. I do like the pose for both for different reasons. Angel looks, well, almost cherub-like. He’s smiling and looks like he’s having a great time flying around. I can’t really blame him — If I could fly like that I probably would be smiling, too! I do get a little bit of a “cheerleader” vibe from his pose but I think that’s just the unsuppressed joy coming off him. Maybe I’m reading too much into that but even if I am at least it’s happiness that’s coming across!
Archangel is a lot more serious business. He’s much more dour and I like that he’s kneeing one of the Apocalypse pillars. Does that mean he’s trying to stop Apocalypse or that he’s just fighting for his “boss” so hard that he doesn’t care about collateral damage? I dunno. I think you can read into that many ways. Regardless, I think these two are a good contrast. It’s the same person but having two very different attitudes.
Angel
Here’s a picture of the back of Angel. I really wanted to showcase the wings on this miniature. The feathers don’t have the hatch-marks etched into them like you’ll see in the official picture. But there’s still lots of feathery-details to pick out. One of the nice things about taking photos of these miniatures like this is I can use this as a reference to see where the wing’s highlights should go. Feel free to bookmark this one for later.
Again, I like this sculpt but I’m also a little intimidated to paint up all those feathers. I’m going to be looking up tutorials on how to do that well later…
Archangel
Archangel has a unique set of metallic wings. What I didn’t know about before was that he’s got a second, miniature set of them on his back in this miniature. That was news to me! Still, I like this sculpt and I’ve even painted him up already. Well, mostly. I need to highlight his wings and I want to add some pink to his chest designs. I don’t have a good picture of him yet or I’d post it.
That said, I did drop this over on my instagram so I figure what the heck, I’ll show it off here:

Here’s one last photo of the back of both of the miniatures included. I’m really glad to get Angel and Archangel into Marvel: Crisis Protocol. I think both versions open up some cool options for X-Men Affiliation list and more cool mechanics to the game.
This box set is currently up for pre-order and has a slated release of September 27, 2024.

Warren Worthington III was born into a family of wealth and privilege, but was driven to a life of secrecy instead when he began sprouting white wings from his shoulders. Managing to move through his fear of persecution, he went on to become a founding member of the X-Men and has battled many an evil with the use of his mutant gifts.
Apocalypse and Archangel in MCP at last!
