Warhammer 40K: Snag Lt. Titus Mini In ‘Space Marine 2 Recruit Edition’
Games Workshop is releasing a new product for fans of Space Marine 2’s Lt. Demetrian Titus. It’s Space Marine 2: Recruit Edition.
A new board game is coming to Warhammer Stores starting Saturday the 28th of September. It’s been dubbed Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Recruit Edition and it’s got 12 miniatures and it’s own rules for a 2-player game. Oh, and a Lieutenant Titus miniature!
In celebration of the release of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, a special board game is arriving featuring none other than Demetrian Titus himself.
The Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Recruit Edition is designed to introduce new hobbyists to the world of Warhammer – especially those that want to recreate the battles of the latest video game hit.
Space Marine 2 Recruit Edition
This new board game includes 12 miniatures as well as 5 paints. You get Titus, 10 Termagants, and a Ripper Swarm as well as the following paints:
- Macragge Blue
- Abaddon Black
- Wraithbone
- Naggaroth Night
- Balthasar Gold
In terms of gameplay, this board game lasts around 30 minutes and pits the lone Lieutenant Titus against the Tyranid swarm. And …Is this sounding familiar to anyone else?
Is This Even “New”
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this type of product, is it? Flashback to May of 2023. GW had just announced a new Space Marine board game…
Yup. I knew I recognized this one.
This was the first iteration of the Space Marine Board Game and the game play sounds (unsurprisingly) familiar, too. Anyhow, I’m not here to pick that apart. This “new” version has some other features not included. The paints are new and while you only get 10 Termagants it does seem like you get some hobby tools to make up for it.
That said, this “new” boxed set seems like it’s geared toward brand new folks who might be hearing about Space Marine/Warhammer 40,000 for the first time by way of the video game. So that explains the paints and the trimmed down miniature count. I can understand where GW is coming from. However, if you’re just looking to snag a Titus miniature there’s much better ways to do that.
Space Marine: The Board Game is still available in the US. A quick google search pulled it up on Target’s website. It’s currently listed for $39.99 — which is actually a complete steal when you look at the contents.
Considering a box of Termagants is listed at $45 for 10 (even though the sculpts are different and you get the different weapon options) AND you get a Space Marine Lieutenant (which typically goes for $37 but again has different options a different sculpt) you can see why $40 is still a pretty great deal.
Anyhow, this “new” product for Space Marine 2 is going to be Warhammer Stores only. If you really want to get it, by all means — get Lt. Titus this weekend.
I foresee a trip to Target in my future…
