D&D: ‘Baldur’s Gate 3’ Gets Official Miniatures (Real-Life Ones This Time!)
WizKids unveiled a new line of Baldur’s Gate 3 miniatures. At last, a new way of making Shadowheart and Lae’zel kiss.
WizKids did what seemed inevitable, really, and announced the eventual release of a line of miniatures based on D&D video game megahit and bar-raiser, Baldur’s Gate 3. It is a testament to the depth of characters, that they are so recognizable and part of the D&D canon now. It’s only a matter of time before you start to see more of them in other ways. But for now, here’s a look at the new miniatures.
And don’t worry, these are real life miniatures. No virtual tabletop required. You won’t have to worry about a license ending or a server going down to be able to make Shadowheart and Lae’zel kiss. Or whoever your chosen pair is, but seriously, if you haven’t played as one and romanced the other, it is some top tier enemies to lovers stuff, folks. Get on it. Anyway, the minis.
WizKids Reveals Baldur’s Gate 3 Miniatures
The new line is under the familiar Icons of the Realms banner—this is WizKids’ line of named characters and iconic monsters (the ones named in adventures, usually). There are two sets, all in all. First and foremost, the Baldur’s Gate 3 Characters boxed set. This is exactly what you expect, the gang’s all here. Well, most of the gang is here. Gale, Astarion, Lae’zel, Wyll, Shadowheart, Karlach, even Withers. But Tav doesn’t makean appearance (which is fine, that’s your mini), but neither does the Dark Urge. I can see that—again, Durge, as they’re commonly called, is typically whatever the player decides they are—but they had such an iconic look with that storm-laden White Dragonborn, I’m a little surprised.
And then rounding out the set is the Adventures from Baldur’s Gate box. This is a booster set of 40 miniatures across a set of blind box boosters. Each box is 4 minis: one large and three medium/small minis. The set comprises many of the weirdos you run into on your adventures. And Baldur’s Gate 3 did such a fantastic job with its iconic story moments, that even looking through the miniatures photos brings back memories. Sure, there’s the iconic Slayer of Bhaal up above. But I’m talking about the monsters that were heretofore just entries in the Monster Manual.
