What do you get when you put a Lord-Celestant on a great big Morrgrpyh? You get Iridan The Witness in Warhammer: Age of Sigmar!

Games Workshop has just dropped the new rules for Iridan The Witness for Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. Get ready for a character who has assumed a grim responsibility to lead their troops to their final doom.

A former Azyrite scholar with an unnaturally strong memory, Iridan was both blessed and cursed upon Reforging with eidetic recollection. This once empowered them as Lord-Celestant, but the associated cost of remembering their fellow warriors as they had been during their prime always weighed heavily upon Iridan.

Iridan The Witness Rules

To kick things off, Iridan wields the Axe of the Final Threshold from their mount – Ariax the Morrgrpyh. Together they have access to some potent abilities. First up we have the Dark Flight power:

This allows Iridan to not only slay an enemy model on a dice roll but also use the Retreat ability without taking any mortal damage. Considering you can use this once per turn, at the end of any turn you could use this to leave combat only to charge back in on your following turn.

Iridan also has a powerful pray to chant as well:

A 6+ Ward as well as some healing after a fight? Seems pretty useful to me! Obviously you’ll want to bring on the Ruination Chamber units with Iridan the Witness as that’s who you have to target with this prayer — but you were probably going to do that anyhow.

If you REALLY want to lean into Iridan the Witness and their army you can run the Army of Renown known as the Ruination Brotherhood.

“This army can be composed of any Ruination Chamber units, alongside Liberators, Knight-Questors, and any other non-Hero Warrior Chamber units.”

This Army of Renown get access to some special rules:

In this Army of Renown Ruination Chamber units will give Warrior Chamber units a 6+ ward (again, always handy but never rely on it). Additionally, Temper The Flaw can either bring back a member of the unit or it can cause them to gain an attack. They won’t be able to hold and objective or use commands, however.

They also gain access to two more prayers as well as other boons. Check these out:

It appears that Iridan is also brining in some bird back-up with these prayers. Really though, mortal wounds and the ability to run and charge are both really nice additions for any army.

Iridan the Witness will be available for Pre-order this weekend along with the rest of the Stormcast Eternals and their new Battletome!

I think we need MORR-Grpyhs in this army.
