Necromunda: ‘Squat Trike’ Returns With The New Svenotar Scout Trike
Those Ironhead Prospectors are riding through the Ash Wastes in style. Say hello to the Svenotar Scout Trike!
Games of a certain vintage will remember the old school Squat army. They will know of their short stature, their exo-armor, and they will remember those crazy Trikes from the army. The Leagues of Votann might be the updated army for Warhammer: 40,000 but the Ironhead Prospectors on Necromunda are keeping the old ways alive and well. Time to ride eternal with the new Svenotar Scout Trike.
The Svenotar Scout Trike is the vehicle of choice when Ironheads range out into the wastes from their laagers – giant nomadic camps formed from temporarily stationary land trains. Their speed and rugged reliability allows small teams of Squats to criss-cross the ash wastes much faster than their Skalvian Explorators, rooting out promising ore veins and chasing down rumours of lost archaeotech.

It’s still a redesign of a classic but this version is designed for a single rider and allows for mobility and firepower. Compare it to the old school Squat Trikes and you can see the inspiration:
While they are quite as “chopper” as the old ones you can still tell where they got the idea from. The one that always stuck out to me was the Trike with the Multi-melta option and gunner. It seems like that idea stuck with this version, too.
Additionally, the Svenotar has some floaty friends that can ride with it as well.
One of the more unique upgrades the Svenotar can handle is a control unit for a Techmite Oculi, a floating drone that follows its host trike and scouts for targets. These advanced machines can travel much further from their controllers than similar automatons and are usually employed to hunt down entrenched enemies before transmitting accurate targeting data back to their owners.
I think these look great and seem thematic and fun for the Ironhead Prospectors. I really like the nod to the old school unit but with a fresh take that fits in Necromunda’s Ash Wastes. And if you’re looking to snag your self a Trike or two it’s worth noting that they are coming in as a pair in a new plastic kit. Also, GW is hinting at more coming to the Squats of Necromunda in a future update…
