AoS: Three Stormcast Eternals Kits I’m Stoked For
A big release weekend for Stormcast Eternals is right around the corner, and there are tons of amazing things to be excited about!
Welcome in, Generals of the Realms! Right on the scaly tails of the verminous Skaven, Sigmar’s finest are getting a wave of new releases. Representing members of the Ruination chamber and some juicy reprints, this release is a must-see for any Stormcast Eternals player. Whether you’re starting a brand new army of Stormies or reinforcing an existing one, there’s plenty to get excited about. However, of all the things on the list, these are the three I’m most jazzed about.
Iridan the Witness
Iridan is an absolute unit, both as a model and a character on the battlefield. Everything about this model screams centerpiece. We’ve had plenty of characters on griffns and gryp-creatures before, but none hold a candle to this gent. His Morrgryph, Ariax, is an incredible mount, decked out in an executioner’s mask and bearing the dark coloration of the ancient death god Morr. Iridan is no slouch himself, armed with a nasty axe to cleave the enemies of Sigmar and make tasty chunks for Ariax. Best of all, if you don’t want this powerful hero in your army for some reason, the kit comes with options to build him as a bog-standard Lord-Vigilant. But…why wouldn’t you want Iridan himself?
Reclusians
Hailing from the horrifying confines of the Ruination chamber, Reclusians are the secret weapon of Sigmar. They’re the personification of the soldier who’s seen waaaaay too much, and they’ve gone a little nuts about it. Reclusians are described as being barely mortal at this point, turning more into machines of destruction. They sound like something you’d find on Khorne’s Grotmas list, because they are genuinely blenders. The models themselves are gorgeous, able to be built either with axe and shield or massive two-handed maces. Their champion takes the blending allegations a step further with a pair of glowing axes, and he makes sure whatever you point him at disappears.
Best of all, if you want to keep the “constructs of death” vibe, you can build them all helmeted, robbing them of their last bits of humanity. You also get two creepy Memorians, spooky allies that keep the Reclusians pointed in the correct direction. I can’t wait to see these guys heading across the field to mulch something, even if that is my poor Skaven.
Tornus the Redeemed
I’ll be the first to say I’m a sucker for a model with wings. Maybe it’s the anime fan in me, maybe it’s growing up as an “edgy” kid in the 90s and 00s, or maybe it just speaks to me. Tornus checks all the boxes: he has wings, an awesome spear, and he’s edgy after being a Chaos Champion for years. His stance shows how powerful he is, showing an almost casual strength. He soars over the battlefield to deliver light or ruin to the enemies of Sigmar, and he looks fabulous doing it.
When I first saw the model, I’ll admit I was a little skeptical. After all, the robes flow in such a way that it looks like he has no lower body. However, on second look, he’s an incredible model with a beefy statline. Plus, just like with Iridan, if you don’t like the special character, you can always build the kit as a standard Knight-Azyros.
The Stormcast kits are available for pre-order now, and will be released on October 26th! Snag them while you can!!
