Kill Team has a new edition and with that a new expansion. We’re taking a closer look at the miniatures in Brutal and Cunning!

We’ve got orks. We’ve got Ratlings. And there’s even some new terrain to take a look at. Kill Team: Brutal and Cunning is in the studio so let’s tackle these miniatures.

Ork Wrecka Krew

Overall the Orks to me look a lot like armored-up Boyz. Maybe Nob-level Orks. I don’t mean that in a bad way either. I know most of these miniatures are brand new, too. But it doesn’t feel that way. Again, not in a bad way! I guess if you’re an Ork player this Kill Team’s aesthetic should slot right in to your existing Orks. I could also see folks using these all over the place as random Ork “Construction Crew” dudes. Or an Orky Demolitionist crew for that matter. Basically they add some new hobby opportunities and that’s a good thing. I’m also curious about what options in the set become more popular as there’s loads of different ways to build them. Have fun with this one — and the extra bits!

Ratling Marksmen

The Ratling Marksmen are coming! I’ve already said I’m a little concerned about how these guys might end up being used play-wise. Especially if/when they get a Datasheet for 40k proper. But I’m not here to talk about their rules. I’m talking about those minis!

That said, I do like how characterful each of these Ratlings are. It does seem like each one of them is telling a little story as they line up a shot (or just drink a cup of coffee/tea). I do think they will be deadly little buggers on the tabletop and, again, there could be some fun modeling options for them. I think you could really go nuts with them in a diorama or if you get creative with their basing. They are just begging for rubble to take cover in. I really hope we see them entered in some of the painting competitions as a squad in 2025. I’m excited to see what the community does with these Ratling Marksmen!

Terrain

Okay, so hear me out: This terrain is basic — but in a good way. These pieces look like the remnants of the some of the older Imperial Bunker defenses and things. I think they would be great additions to most tables as battle-damaged version of those kits. If you still have any of those bunkers then you know what I’m talking about. Imagine painting up a few of theses as ruined sections and mixing them in with your existing “functional” terrain. Yeah…that’s the ticket right there!

Which Kill Team will you side with? Brutal or Cunnin?!
