Warhammer: Grotmas Day 5 – Hail the Omnissiah with this Ad-Mech Detachment
Hail Mars! The Adeptus Mechanicus are getting a gift for Grotmas with the Haloscreed Battleclade for Warhammer 40,000.
Games Workshop continues with the Grotmas gifts. Today we have a look at the new detachment for the Adeptus Mechanicus and their Haloscreed BAttleclade. The enhanced Binharic Code will prodice your troops with some invigorating new abilities to sweep them to victory!
“Tech‐Priests often prefer to monitor their forces remotely, but those who lead battle clades take this intervention to an extreme, exerting even finer control over their thralls. Projecting fragments of their consciousness through the noospheric battle‐sphere, they override the autonomy of their troops in order to inload tactical information, target coordinates and vector directives into cybernetic minds. Such assistance is gratefully received by the Machine God’s faithful, who feel blessed by the rush of divine wisdom and implanted knowledge.”
Adeptus Mechanicus Haloscreed Battleclade Detachment
As with the previous detachments you can download this one for free right here. It’s lore-wise it’s centered around the “Noospheric Transferance” (which is the Detachment special rule) on the battlefield. In terms of “army construction theme or detachments centered on specific units” this one is pretty forgiving. You can assign the Detachment abilities to pretty much any unit in your army.
Basically, you pick 1-3 units in your army, and during each command phase, you assign one of 4 buffs to the set of them, via “Noospheric Transference”, and the “Halo Override” Keyword.
The bufss are all generically useful, from enhanced Movement, to Toughness, Advance& Charge, and finally Stealth. The interesting thing is you must assign all your Halo Override units the same one in a turn.
All four of the Enhancements for the detachment are buffs for various units in the army, and only one interacts directly with the “Noospheric Transferance” rule. It’s mainly a set of weapon buffs for your Characters. The standout Enhancment is Transoracular Dyad Wafers, granting the Detachment’s buffs to a Datasmith and his attached Kastelan Robots.
Naturally, the Haloscreed Battle Clade also has six more stratagems to use as well. You can see those above. I like the Neural Overload stratagem as it allows any unit to be loaded up with an additional Override ability. You can even double up abilities on your orginally chosen Halo Override units if you are willing to suffer D3 Mortal wounds. It’s an interesting and flexible risk/reward mechanic that can let pull off minor miracles exactly when you most need them.
Personally, I think it’s a pretty fun little detachment and it feels like you shoehorned a little bot of old-school Sororitas Faith Pool dice into your Ad-Mech army. It kind of makes sense in a twisted way. Those Tech-priests do really believe after all!
