Age of Sigmar: The First ‘Battlescroll’ Is Now Available
Games Workshop has released the first major update to Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. Get the latest Battlescroll now.
There is a new Battlescroll out now for AoS. But that was far from the only update to the new edition. You can download all the updates it right here. For now, we’re just going to hit up the Battlescroll. But check the list below for your army…there’s been a TON of updates.

Okay, so down to business. There’s really something for (almost) everyone in these updates. Thankfully, GW provided some nice summaries to go off of:
Again, these are just summaries. You can find all the details in the full download in their respective sections. Furthermore, there’s been more targeted updates as well to the season rules.
The new Seizing the Initiative seems like a way for the player that’s really behind to catch-up and keep them in the game. It’s less punishing for them to take the double now. And that’s just one of many tweaks to the rules as well. There’s also a major update to Honour Guard as well as the new Regimented Forces. These interact with new or updated once per battle abilities.
Spearhead Updates
Spearhead also got some attention. There’s been various updates to the listed Spearhead forces above. For more info on the respective Spearheads, check their respective Faction Packs.
Points Updates And Rule Changes
Next we get to the points updates. This is just an overview but, again, if you needed any more reason to download this Battlescroll you should probably check out your army points.
The points changes are highlighted as well so they should be easy to find for your army.
Finally, we get to the rules updates. There’s some Addenda to the rules as well as Errata to go over. The Glossary also had the same treatment, too. And look, I’m not going to pretend I’ve had a chance to digest all these changes. It’s A LOT. This document is clocking in at 72 pages total. So yes, it’s a major update to the rules.
Why All The Changes?
If you’re curious as to why all these changes are happening the WarCom article lays out some details. The basic idea is just to rebalance things in the season and overall play. There were some not-so-obvious things that the design team wanted to iron out (see: Priority Roll and Underdog change). They also wanted to introduce a few new rules to keep the season feeling exciting. These rules will impact the meta for sure.
As far as the Faction Adjustments, they have a pretty good summary for why:
Overall, this is a rather massive update. Combined with the Faction Pack updates and the fact that this is all happening in mid-December, AoS in 2025 is going to look a lot different. The updates will be rolling out to the Warhammer Age of Sigmar App later as well. I think that’s when we’re really going to start seeing these change make an impact.
