The Blood Angels are getting their Grotmas detachment. Meet the new Angelic Inheritors for Warhammer 40,000.

When it comes the Angelic Host of the Emperor the Blood Angels know a thing or two. They are the Sons of Sanguinius and they are coming to the tabletop with a new Grotmas detachment. The new Angelic Inheritors showcases the dual nature of these Angels of Death.

“Just as Sanguinius himself is said to have brought hope to the hopeless at the point of his gilded spear, so too do the Blood Angels rise in the face of adversity as though in fulfilment of some ancient prophecy. At such times, the angelic and monstrous natures ever at war within Sanguinius’ gene‐sons find an equilibrium. Icy calm in their ferocity, furious in their clarity, the warrior angels of Baal strike with unerring and unstoppable wrath to snatch victory from the bloodied jaws of defeat.”

Blood Angels Grotmas Detachment

The new detachment for the Blood Angels theme is really just “more Blood Angel Characters.” You can only include characters from the Blood Angels in this detachment. Thankfully, the detachment rule Legacy of the Angel is versatile. It allows you to choose two of the three options at the start of the first battle round. Then those abilities are applied to all Adeptus Astartes Characters (ie, your Blood Angel Characters that you’re limited to take) for the rest of the game.

Also, if I’m reading this correctly, these abilities would even apply to unique characters. Considering some of these abilities are also stratagems we’ve seen in other detachments from Grotmas, just having them “turned on” for the whole game seems solid. And you don’t have to spend CP on them.

Speaking of Stratagems, we’ve got another six to use and four enhancements to apply. Shocker, I know. Focused Fury seems like a great way to literally punch through tough enemies with the Lance rule. Combine that with the Troubling Visions to really ensure you get into combat with a bunch of bonuses.

If you’re a Blood Angel player who likes to load-up on the Characters to lead the charge this one is for you. Just be careful to bring some extra bodies with all those characters to take hits!
