Games Workshop has pulled the covers off the new Death Korps of Krieg army box. We’ve got stats and points!

There’s a new Death Korps of Krieg army box on the way from Games Workshop. It’s loaded up with all new kits and it’s the first crack at the Astra Militarum’s new rules. Today, we’re getting a look at the contents. We’ve got rules, points, and some weapon stats to check out so let’s go!

The new Death Korps of Krieg Army Set will be available to pre-order this Saturday – the first place to get many of the excellent new miniatures and an exclusive version of the Codex. We have already seen what the Command Squads, Heavy Weapons, and Troopers can do with their new datasheets, so here’s how Lord Marshal Dreir and the rest of his loyal attendants fare in battle.

Up first we have a look at Lord Marshal Varnan Dreir’s rules. He’s Tough To Kill which I respect. Rules-wise that’s a roll on a 2+ to bring him back from the bring. Now, it only works the the first time he’s been destroyed but still. But keep in mind he’s also got six wounds, a 4+ save and a 4+ Invulnerable. He also has Leading the Charge which grants him and the unit he’s leading the Devastating Wounds ability.

That probably means you want him in a highly mobile unit like the Krieg Cavalry. They also come with Screening Line which allows them to a normal move of 6″ after an enemy unit ends a move (see above) within 9″ of them. This is a powerful to bait charges or to evade them entirely.

Additionally, we’re also getting some more info regarding the new Krieg Combat Engineers. They will come with Scout 6″ and have the Grenadiers rule, too. And just for fun they also come with the Remote Mine which can cause problems for enemy fortifications or Vehicles.

There’s also the weapon profiles we’re getting a look at as well. The Siege Cannon looks beastly. But I also think the Multiple Rocket Launcher has a place, too.

Both have a 48″ range and multiple attacks. It really depends on what you want to lob ordnance at. The Siege Cannon is great at cracking tough targets while the MRL has potential to put a dent in mass Infantry.

Finally, we get a look at the points for these units. This is a sample list that GW came up with to take the units in the box to a 1000 point Incursion Force.

It’s kind of funny that the box contents only come out to 310 points. I’m not that surprised however. The Astra Militarum are known to be pretty cheap on the points per body. Still, it’s a good example of what you could build toward.
