You won’t believe how much damage some of the Chaos Marine Characters can do in Melee.  WATCH OUT Loyalists!

There are some fun infantry options in the Chaos side of things that can pour out a ton of wounds – if everything goes perfect on there attack step.  I love the idea of seeing how much damage a model could do if the unit goes off and your dice decide to give you an epic story to tell.

Honorable Mention:  Creations of Bile Chaos Lord – 24 Damage

The Chaos Lord from Creation of Bile with the Prime Test Subject upgrade can hit that sweet flat Damage 4 with Sustained hits, rerolls, and other fun stuff.  It doesn’t have a special name so while he is dope as heck with his damage output he won’t show up in this list.  I think his names should be – “Why are you so mean Goatboy!” when they go off and wreck some unit of Ratlings before dying to lasfire.  He’s only an honorable mention as you can only take him in the Creations of Bile list, so he’s very corner case compared to the all the guys below. They all can carve up the competition no matter what army you throw them into.

1. Abaddon The Despoiler – Drach’nyen – 24+ damage

You have 8 strength 14, AP -4, and flat 3 Damage attacks that happen to have devastating wounds as well as Sustained Hits most likely.  This guy is coming in hot, going to wreck stuff with his Chaos Marines army, and probably whine about it later on his battleship.  He is number one as while Kharn could do more just having AP -4 means he will have a better chance of chewing through the enemy.

2. Kharn the Betrayer – Gorechild – 24+ damage

This World Eater is one of the best infantry blenders in the game.  Kharn comes in hot with 8 attacks (or 9 on the charge) that are hitting at strength 6, AP -2, and flat 3 Damage.  I almost feel he should get an extra pip of AP and just more strength but he still wrecks stuff if he gets there.

3. Skulltaker – The Slayer Sword – 18 damage

Look Skulltaker isn’t just going to be winning a painting award with this weapon.  This comes in with 6 attacks at Strength 6, AP -2, and flat 3 Damage with Devastating Wounds and Precision.  If he gets 2 6’s he can just wreck most little characters leading their friends around. Glory to Khorne!

4. Typhus – Manreaper – 15 damage

Did you know he hits pretty hard when he gets there.  Typhus comes in with 5 lethal attacks, Strength 9, AP -2, and flat 3 Damage.  It is a ton of attacks that when mixed with his Mortal wound shooting he can roll in and wreck a unit. All fear the Death Guard.

5. Ahriman – Black Staff of Ahriman – 15 damage

While this isn’t the most deadly with its low AP it does have a flat 3 damage which gets it into the interesting range of damage.  Ahriman comes in like an angry Librarian with 5 attacks, Strength 7, AP -1, and flat 3 Damage.  This isn’t too bad and really just having flat 3 is pretty powerful as it can wreck through Elite units.

It is pretty interesting to think that flat 3 damage seems to be the point for special Chaos Space Marine characters.  A lot of the other armies seem to break at flat 2 Damage with only a few others getting 3 (Looking at you Asurmen).  I wonder if will see some other fun close combat nonsense show up when some of the other armies come out like Grey Knights and if there is a true Salamanders book.

All hail the Primordial Annihilator!
