It’s RPG crowdfunding season—the ALIEN RPG 2nd Edition Kickstarter launches on March 25th, with an exclusive patch for early backers.

Free League announced a launch date for the ALIEN RPG: Evolved Edition Kickstarter campaign. Evolved is what the ALIEN RPG is calling 2nd Edition, which will launch with a Kickstarter, though as I understand it, the game will be close to completion once the crowdfunding campaign is underway. So you won’t have a super long time to wait between backing and getting to try out your product.

The official launch date is March 25th, according to a press release from Free League, and the first 48 hours are your chance to be a part of the crew. That is, early backers who make a pledge for physical books will also receive an exclusive cloth crew patch for the USCSS Fidanza, the freighter featured in the very first 2E Cinematic Scenario.

But you’ll get more than just a free cloth patch for backing the gamme. You’ll also get the new core rulebook, which has been “built upon feedback from thousands of players over five years.” The new rules update and streamline the game, making it easier to get out in space where you can die a miserable, frightening death, probably covered in goo. Or milk. Just the way Ridley Scott intended.

Among the books you’ll find other Weyland-Yutani-authorized delights, including:

  • A bold new look and feel to the Core Rulebook, with all new page layouts by Johan Nohr (of MÖRK BORG fame), new interior maps and artwork, and a stunning new core book cover by renowned artist Colm Geoghegan (Creepy Duck Design);
  • Revised and expanded core rules for talents, stress and panic, and stealth;
  • Revised combat rules for armor, ammo, grenades, stuns, skirmishes, and spaceships;
  • New iconic weapons, items, ships, and locations from the hit film Alien: Romulus;
  • Various new rules and tools in high demand from players, including zero gravity, miniatures play support, and expanded campaign play;
  • And last but not least, Last Survivor, a robust solo mode designed by masters of the solo trade, Shawn Tomkin and Matt Click.

Beware the face-huggers!
