Goatboy’s Grimdark Armylist: Chaos Daemons “Scintillating Legion” Top 4 Finalist – Adepticon 2025
Goatboy here with a Daemons of Chaos “Scintillating Legion” list that almost took the brass ring at Adepticon 2025. Take a look at this deadly armylist!
I’m writing this from the hotel room after experiencing Adepticon 2025 as a team member of 7 Plagues of the Week. I had a blast and while this isn’t an article about the Team Tournament experience I did want to talk about a Chaos Daemon list from the top 4 from the Singles Champion tournament this past weekend. My buddy Justin Curtis piloted a different style of list and I wanted to showcase it as it is pretty neat.
The Scintillating Legion is an interesting army that gives you a lot of Flux dice that you can use to reroll things and upgrade your Stratagems. It seems like a very interesting list, probably hard to really do well with, and something that Justin would love to play. It is awesome he got to the top 4 with such a unique build. I love how he can shoot things thru the Soul Grinders eyes and the Lord of Change with the Infernal Puppeter upgrade. It also has a ton of board presence too with the Grinders, characters, and just big beefy monsters.

The hobby and love of the game is just great to experience even if my wallet hurts from the random things I grabbed.

Scintillating Legion Tactics
How does the army play? Well to quote some people “Justin is going to make me learn a whole slew of new rules.” It is a pretty crazy army that utilizes their Flux points to reroll, power things up, and give the opponent their own Flux dice to use. Each time Justin would use one – the opponent gets one they can use to reroll things. It is a dance of when to use powerful upgrades to their Stratagem using Flux dice or when to just – power out a bunch of magic bolts form your Lord Of Change shooting through a Soul Grinder.
The last update let the Grinders get a bit cheaper and their fat body, decent shooting profile, and the ability for a Lord of Change to shoot via an Enhancement that lets Justin push these monsters forward and be a pain in the butt. I watched a game as each Grinder grabbed an objective with its large rate of OC and powerful body to bully the enemy and let this army dance and shoot you to death. It is a very complicated army, run by a very skilled player.
