Warhammer 40K: World Eaters Goremongers & You!

Goatboy here to go over the latest World Eaters unit to hit the 40K tabletop slaughterhouse – Goremongers!
As we wait with bated breath and the desire to bring more Skulls to Khorne we got some new 40K rules for a new World Eaters unit, Goremongers. I want to discuss how these rules showcase what might be coming for Khorne and what this means for the eaters of Worlds in the coming months. It is a pretty exciting time to be a Chaos player with three new codexes coming soon.
Meet the World Eater Goremongers
First thing let’s look at the actual dataslate on GW’s site. As you can see from the pic this is a “bigger” Jakhal like model with some removed rules, some added rules, and basically the idea that they really like cosplaying as Bloodletters. What’s interesting is the big missing piece we saw utilized by Jakhals and no longer on this Datasheet.
The loss of Feel No Pain is pretty huge hole on this dataslate. I wonder if this is now going to show up throughout the book with some kind of removal of the rule or locking it into a blessings role. I get the feeling it might just go away as a push to “clean” up some of the interactions they might not want in the game.
The other odd thing in all of this is while the Goremongers are designed to be punchy, they aren’t nearly as punchy as you would think the unit should be. Their giant chainblades do not have a Point of AP, and while they have Lance it isn’t nearly as exciting as the old Jakhals rules. They have a crazy big dude, the Blood Herald that might do something and these guys kind of don’t. You would think their leader should have a cool blade of some kind to match the fact they have cool horns on their head.
Where Do They Fit for World Eaters
Of course this isn’t bad as again this unit is very much needed for the army. It has the one keyword that will make any World Eater excited and dreading trying to get a unit of these guys. Infiltrators is worth so much more than Feel No Pain and while it is sad we don’t have have a better save option – just being able to push enemy things back to give the World Eater army room to run is very important.
Which leads me to think some of the Scout option stuff is staying in the Codex – which of course means World Eaters Pressure is going to happen no matter what you try to do by speed bumping our crazy boys of death and destruction. I am worried about the lack of Feel No Pain present but will just have to wait and see if my fears are right when we get the new book in the next few weeks.
There are too many things coming and I am just excited to get some Chaos on the tabletop again. Hopefully all my cool toys stay in, we get a bunch of neat ones, and I can wreck face for Khorne.
