Hordes: Plastic Nephilim Unboxed
Let’s take a closer look at the new plastic Nephilim that Privateer Press released this past July.
First lets do this Nephilim Soldier. Not the mightiest warbeast but flight and the Massacre Animus make it a popular choice.
Here are all the pieces from the box. This new one has been resculpted. While the change is slight, I think I prefer this one. It has a slightly shorter neck, is looking straight ahead, has armored legs and larger feet that look less awkward. In general it also just kind of feels more bulky. Plus if you want to run more than one soldier, the plastic will be easier to convert.

And let’s do a close up of the head and weapons.
As you can see the Bolt Thrower shares the same torso and legs, but all the other pieces are different. Like this month’s other Nephilim, this sculpt hasn’t changed much. But this plastic version is a buck cheaoer than the old metal one.

Love the Crossbow.
Overall these are in line with other recent soft plastic releases from Privateer Press. They seem quite good overall, with, crisper detail and fewer mold lines than many older kits. Maybe some day they’ll get rid of all the mold lines, but I think it’s unrealistic to expect a completely flawless kit. And while this one is not flawless, overall it seems like a product that people should be pleased with.
