Miniature Painting
Tabletop & RPG Miniatures Painting Tutorials, Reviews & Editorials. Miniature painting, is the hobby of painting miniature figures and model figures, as either a standalone activity or part of another activity that uses models, such as RPGs, tabletop wargames, or military scale modeling. In addition to the painting of models, the creation of scenic basing and terrain for the miniature to be attached to is an important part of the hobby. These scenic bases can range from simple applications of textured pastes, gravel, and static grass meant for rough use in gaming, to larger scenic bases for display-only models, up to full elaborate dioramas depicting a scene of a single or group of miniatures. As miniature painting has grown in size and popularity as a hobby independent of tabletop and RPG gaming the techniques and methods involved have been developed to advanced standards. Many online forums and online galleries have been created as places for miniature painters to share their display and competition pieces for others to view and critique. Many tabletop and RPG conventions also feature miniature painting events and competitions, with a variety of prizes for the winners.
